In a case related to a gay man from Nigeria, the Supreme Court stated that the judge should collaborate in collecting information when the situation of LGBT people in the country of origin is not entirely clear. He/she cannot instead be asked to adopt a proactive role in clarifying the sexual orientation of the claimant (if deemed doubtful).
