Abstract
This entry explores the relationship between sexual orientation and asylum law. Focusing on the way in which sexuality is constructed in refugee law, this entry outlines the international context of sexual orientation and gender identity human rights, the developing recognition of sexual orientation refugee claims, the problematic use of stereotypes when adjudicating asylum claims, the changing scope of sexual orientation persecution, and the nexus between sexual identity and persecution.
